The main quest consists of two intertwined quests: Of Monsters and Men, and The Salamander's Tail. The dwarven blacksmith will want you to complete some quests first before trading with him. However, the bail is cheaper than otherwise purchasing his books directly, by about 100 orens total. The dwarven blacksmith in Chapter II will also be friendly enough for trading. You can still perform them if you reach Coleman before the murder. In addition, the peasants will make one last attempt to kill Abigail after the Beast is slain.
If saved, she will assist in the battle against the beast, but the barghasts will attack.She will be replaced by a healer in a later chapter, and you will fight her in the epilogue. If lynched, you will fight the beast alone, with the barghasts hunting down peasants instead.
